I have love reading all my life. I remember visiting my grandmother when I was 10 and browsing her bookshelves for something to read. That is where I discovered the "mystery" genre. She had books by Ellery Queen and I absolutely adored them.
I got a college degree in English, so naturally I have read a lot.
Then in the 1990's I finally found my dream job--librarian in the adult fiction department! I got to read all my favorite authors as soon as the books hit the shelves! Yes! I miss that job. (I retired in 2000)
I have learned that if a book is not up to the "standards" I have set in my head, I am not afraid to close it and never open it again. Life is too short and there are way too many books I have to read.
