Dead and Gone

Is it just me or am I imagining that Sookie is no longer the Sookie in the first books in the Southern Vampire Series? Sookie is now the one on True Blood. No kidding. She talks like HBO Sookie, reacts like HBO Sookie, thinks like HBO Sookie.
I am not sure this is just my imagination or if Ms. Harris is now writing for the HBO series. Of course, it could be that Anna Paquin is just an incredible actress and has imposed her characterization so firmly in my head that I cannot see the original character that I created in my own mind. I kinda miss the first Sookie.
